ARTIST BIO
A Long Way Ahead Of Me
My name is Alex Cochrane, and I’m here to tell you a lot about me. First things first, I like to play soccer, video games, and do art. One of my favorite kinds of art is animation, something I was introduced to sophomore year, and now like to mess around with. I like to watch videos on YouTube not just because they’re cool, but because the animation looks amazing to me. I recently found out about Illustrator, and how to get it, and I really want to use it more than flash, I feel like it has a better feel to it.
My history is pretty simple, I was born in England April 12th, 2001, and I moved to Austin, an amazing city, on July 5th 2008, and I really enjoy it here, as I have made lots of friends, and my schooling has been great. I have always been into art, I have made caricatures of my friends for a while, and little pieces of art of whatever what comes to mind.
I don’t have too much experience, but I’m willing to learn. As previously stated I’ve done art on my own time, but have on just now started really started to experiment with the computer my teacher has given me such as Flash(now Animate cc), Illustrator, After Effects and Photoshop. I keep up with these things, and am going to purchase After Effects for the purpose of editing my videos at home, and making my access to animation easier.
My future plans are a little complicated, as I know that whatever happens I will go to college, and I plan to in some form, keep up my artwork, even it doesn’t make me a living. I plan to go into either a business school, or an art school, because both appeal to me in different ways, but I know that the business nearly completely guarantees me a job, and as long as I keep up my animation, even if it’s just once a week, but that’s the way it’s looking. I know I have a nice amount of creativity, I like to think about how things could look, let’s say you have a nice flat plain, I could see a city just pop out of the ground, but you have to know if it works and is realistic, like no city would need to look completely perfect, you should draw (imagine) in the different parts, such as the downtown to the simple houses, to the power stations, and the police and fire, to how the metro would look. That is the stuff. My real problem is talent, I’m a real hit-or-miss. Sometimes I’ll sit down and draw a near-perfect face, or a really nice looking car. The next day I’ll draw a Mr. Potato Head, I honestly think that could be what’s holding me back.
I really enjoy animation, and I know that in future I’ll keep it up, but the real question is if I’m good enough.
